A historic city in the French Riviera, Cannes is known around the world for the Cannes Film Festival, hosted by the city since 1949.

This is one of several annual festivals that take place in the city, which include the Carnival on the Riviera, The International Festival of Games, and the Pan-African Film Festival.

There is no better way to experience the city than behind the wheel of a luxury rental car. Cruise along the waterfront on the Boulevard de la Croisette with its stunning beach views and enjoy the numerous gourmet restaurants and shops, or roam the old town, Le Suquet, and view the Boulevard from afar. Don’t forget the Cannes villas, which stand as a landmark for the city’s historic wealth.

Several museums may be found in Cannes, including the Museum of the Art and History of Provence and the Castre Museum. Then there are the historic islands of St Marguerite and St Honorat, a ferry ride away. St Marguerite Island was the historic prison of “The Man in the Iron Mask”. St Honorat Island, however, has been the home of Cistercian monks’ since 410A.D., and the remains of their medieval church and eleventh-century monastery are open to the public.
