The McLaren P1 is a supercar for the 21st century, very fast, very light and very “green”. All though individually these credentials are becoming more and more commonplace, few cars can claim all three. Powered by both a 3.8 litre twin turbocharged petrol powered V8 motor producing 727 brake horsepower and an electric motor, producing 176 brake horsepower, the P1 has a mind-blowing combined output of 903 brake horsepower. On all-electric power only this car can drive silently and emissions free for up to 20 kilometers and can be plugged in or charged by its V8 engine.
With a mid engine configuration and ultralight carbon fibre monocoque the P1 is agile, safe and handles like a true Formula One race car. Accelerating from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in under 3 seconds, the P1 has managed to shave a whole 5 seconds off the speed of its legendary predecessor, the astonishing McLaren F1, which long held the title for world’s fastest production car. The McLaren P1 will be limited to only 375 units, to maintain exclusivity, and has kept the three seat layout that is synonymous with the McLaren F1 and which is still unique in the marketplace, taking full advantage of the limited space inside.
